Independence and Freedom....

What is Independence ? Do we people realise it correctly ? Do we honour our
leaders who fought for freedom ?
When i say freedom it is not mere singing Nation anthem or Vande mataram !!
Will the next generation know what is patriotism ? if yes, how can we
bring our kids ?

Independence has now become "In" "dependence"...and Vande maataram has become "one-day maataram"....
ie, I mean to say that even though India is said to be independent, we rely almost for everything on other countries...for eg. take the example of cricket, all these days the coach was a foreigner, inspite of the fact that there were so many good cricketers in India...So, people here in India with good coaching abilities were deprived of this opportunity...
When coming to the question of whether we really honour our freedom fighters or not...i wud rather say no...we know abt good old heros who acted in movies, but hardly we know the names of the freedom fighters...even the very few names that we know wud be because of the fact that a movie wud have been made on that person....so, media i feel is the only means through which awareness abt the freedom fighters are given....
So, if at all, our next generation needs to be patriotic it can happen more through movies/media than we making them go through the books...some innovative ideas need to be made so that the children can truly realise the meaning of patriotism....Sports is not the only means where children need to be patriotic....as u rightly pointed out, there needs to be awareness abt the freedom fighters, awareness abt wht independence is all about...
And for this, from my opinion, we can have some skits/dramas, etc in the schools to bring abt patriotism, instead of having those boring history classes....

May be there is freedom to choose...freedom to choose ur own profession...but there is no freedom to speech...
and if at all u want to exercise this freedom to speech, u shd have necessary resources to defend urself...
so, i wud say tht u r curbed of the freedom to speech...
Even if there is freedom to choose ur own profession, there are only some people fortunate enough to choose their own profession...
But, these barbaric politicians have commercialised this education and
many deserving people have been deprived of this freedom to choose...
Even amongst us...many of us wanted to pursue the noble profession of medicine, but how many of us could actually afford to do that?
Also, the word RELIGION plays its own part in freedom to choose...
So, I shd say freedom, in India is partially there but not all enjoy the fruits of it...
